That’s a very broad subject as well. What type of wood would be best? Hornbeam? Maple? Oak? Everybody says hickory is the best. Maybe it should be those AHEAD sticks Lars Ulrich from Metallica endorses? What size should it be? 2B? 3A? 5A? 5B? 7A? Shape and length are also important factors. Even tip shape (round, tear drop, barrel, oval, acorn) and material (wood, nylon) influence our sound. Perhaps we should just buy signature sticks endorsed by our favourite drummer to play exactly the way he does? There’ s Neil Peart Signature sticks from ProMark, Steve Gadd Signature from Vic Firth, Gavin Harrison Signature, Benny Grebb Signature, Virgil Donati Signature from Vater and many more. All these may give drummers a migraine headache. Treat us as a painkiller!
