Tama are introducing a number of brand new products for 2021 including a new variation of the popular Starclassic Performer series.
Tama Starclassic Performer drums have been in production since 1994 and the shell design has included various types of wood, including pure birch, pure maple, hybrid bubinga/birch and walnut/birch. This time, Tama’s newest addition to the series centers on maple/birch hybrid shells.
As the producer states, the newest model offers „a complex, powerful and expressive sound, supported by rugged Starclassic performance” providing „unique sonic component that redefines the art of professional drum set sound and expression at undeniable value.”
New Tama Starclassic Performer Maple/Birch models are equipped with coated Evans G1 drumheads on toms and snare as well as a Evans EQ4 drumhead on the bass drum. Toms are mounted on Tama’s well-known Star-Cast mounting system and are equipped with Die-cast hoops.
The shells are based on the abovementioned hybrid construction that consists of 4-ply Birch and 2-ply Maple combination (6 mm) on toms and snare. The bass drum is a 5-ply Birch and 2-ply Maple construction (7 mm).
There are two configurations available: 10″, 12″, 16″, 22″ and 10″, 12″, 14″, 16″, 22″. Also, there are four lacquer finishes available: Molten Steel Blue Burst, Caramel Aurora, Dark Cherry Fade and a classic Piano Black.
