As we have already informed, on June 23, 2018, Meinl HQ in the German town of Gutenstetten will host an festival called Meinl Percussion Festival 2018, which is directed to all fans of percussion instruments.
As part of the festival, the organizers invite you to a series of workshops. One of them will be hosted by Inor Sotolongo and Tokhi and is called “Samba World“. The topics to be covered include:
- Basic Brazilian grooves
- Styles overview
- Ensamble arrangements.

Inor Sotolongo is a percussion player and composer. Born in Cuba, he graduated from the prestigious Amadeo Roldán Conservatory in Havana. Very quickly, he was able to make a name for himself in his fatherland and toured such countries as: Jamaicka, Spain, the USA, Japan, Mexico, Denmark, Venezuela, or Argentina performing with the biggest names in Cuban music. He has also collaborated with such internationally recognized artists as: Michel Camillo, Me’shell Ndegeocello, Bonnie Raitt, Zucchero, or Deep Forest. Currently, he resides in France.
Tokhi is a Czech percussion player. He has performed in the US, China as well as Europe and collaborated with Karel Gott and Work – Shop & More (Hiram Bullock), to name just two. He works as a DrumCircle facilitator leading workshops for companies, schools and at festivals. He is the founder of the Groove Army drum orchestra basing on the principle of world samba bands from Brazil. Tokhi produces his own signed instruments and clothes, he also deals with sound therapy.
