After a series of enigmatic announcements, Linkin Park have finally announced the name of their new singer to replace Chester Bennington, who passed away in 2017. It is Emily Armstrong, formerly known from the band Dead Sara.
Of course, we are slightly more interested in the fact that the band returns without its original drummer and co-founder Rob Bourdon in the fold. He has been replaced by Colin Brittain.

Colin Brittain (born Colin Cunningham) is an American songwriter and music producer. As such, he has collaborated with the likes of Papa Roach, G Flip, Illenium, Hands Like Houses, Basement, Dashboard Confessional, 5 Seconds of Summer, Miyavi, or One Ok Rock. He started his career as the drummer for the band Oh No Fiasco.
LP leader and co-singer, Mike Shinoda, comments on this change:
“Rob had said to us at a point, I guess it was a few years ago now, that he wanted to put some distance between himself and the band. And we understood that – it was already apparent. He was starting to just show up less, be in less contact, and I know the fans noticed it too. The ‘Hybrid Theory’ re-release and ‘Papercuts’ release, he didn’t show up for anything. So for me, as a friend, that was sad, but at the same time, I want him to do whatever makes him happy, and obviously everybody wishes him the best.“

Shinoda says this about the new drummer:
“He’s playing drums in the live show, and drums are his first instrument, but he plays guitar and bass and keyboard, and he produces and mixes. We have a similar way of looking at music, of starting from scratch, and I really enjoyed working with him and bouncing ideas back-and-forth. And then when Linkin Park started making stuff, for whatever we were going to do, it was just like, ‘Oh, Colin. We’re making stuff. You should come over.”

Yesterday, Linkin Park‘s new lineup played its first concert, which could also be caught on streaming (link to a recording of the performance on YT: HERE). More shows (in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London and Seoul) will take place later this month. There is also a show scheduled for November this year in Bogota, Colombia.
