Darby Todd has never been a drummer to stick to one style. He gets a ton of enjoyment from playing with different people and he’s been fortunate to play with some amazing musicians. His current main gigs are touring and recording with Devin Townsend (including recording drums on his most recent album “Lightwork“) as well as touring the world with ex-Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre.
Other notable artists he has played with over the years include: The Darkness, Kee Marcello (ex-Europe), Paul Gilbert, Robert Plant, Robben Ford, Carl Verheyen, Huey Lewis, Charlie Griffiths, Frost, Kaipa, Joe Lynn Turner, Alan Price and Disney’s Lion King.
When not on the road he’s often found recording for artists in his own recording studio.
Darby says:
“I first visited BDC at the start of 2022 while rehearsing for the Devin Townsend / Dream Theater tour. I had absolutely no intention of switching drum companies, I was purely interested in seeing how the drums were made. After two hours I left knowing that I had to play BDC drums. Of course the drums sound amazing, but there was so much more to my decision than sound.
In my two hours at BDC I found a group of people that loved drums, unbelievably even more than I do. Everyone had such pride and commitment to making the best possible drums going. The attention to detail was far beyond anything I have ever seen, when you see the detail on the washers inside the drum you realise that every step of the process has been produced a to the highest level. These are drums that I know won’t let me down regardless of the musical situation I’m in.”
