VATER is a company manufacturing drumsticks and accessories based in Holbrook, Massachusetts, USA. It was founded by Boston-area drummer Jack Adams, who established Jack’s Drumshop there. In 1956, he began ordering sticks turned specifically for his store by Fred Maichle. He supplied for some of the greatest drummers of that time: Philly Joe Jones, Louie Bellson, and Buddy Rich. Later, Adams worked with his son-in-law Clarence Vater at the latter’s C. Vater Music Center in Norwood, Massachusetts. Since 1988, the company has had its current headquarters in Holbrook. It is currently run by Adams’ grandsons (and Clarence Vater’s sons) Alan and Ron.
