Drummers and Drummerettes! A really good and professional drummer, who has been active in the Polish music business for more than 20 years, needs help. We suggest you consider making a donation to help him.
Włodzimierz “Vlodi” Tafel is the only drummer in Poland (and possibly in the whole of Europe) that is professionally active while using a full prosthesis for his leg. A device like that is very costly and needs to be replaced every once in a while. That is why Vlodi is collecting funds for one more joint. You can make a donation to the Poza horyzonty (Beyond Horizons) foundation run by Jasiek Mela – a disabled explorer who has reached both the North Pole and the South Pole. “Perhaps a bit late, but I have been taught not to be afraid and ashamed to ask for help! In co-operation with the Poza Horyzonty foundation, I’m gathering funds to buy one more joint (there are 3 of them in total) for my prosthesis called “Sigfrid”. Each element is very expensive and far from everlasting! In order for me to go far in my passion for playing the drums, I need a donation from you. Please, be sure to make the annotation VLODI TAFEL. By doing so, you will infuse even more belief and strength in me. See you on stage somewhere!“
Vlodi Tafel lost his left leg as a teenager, when, having suffered a soccer-induced injury, he was diagnosed with bone cancer and underwent an amputation surger. Forced to give up playing soccer, he resolved to devote all his time and energy to the other love of his life – music. Thanks to his persistence, he was admitted to the F. Chopin Music School in Warsaw, Poland. Two years later, he started to study drums at the Jazz Dept. there, which he finished with flying colours, earning his degree andthe title: „Musician – Drummer”.
