Sonor Drums has officially announced Wiktoria Jakubowska joining its family of artists. Wiktoria is very well known in Poland for her work with such artists as: Paulina Przybysz, Kasia Lins, Karaś / Rogucki, Ralph Kaminski, Jerry & The Pelican System or Aga Bigaj.
The fact that Wiktoria has picked the cult, classic German brand comes as no surprise to those who have been following her career. She had been playing Sonor drum kits on stage long before she officially joined the company artist roster. „My first conscious choice of drum set was a ’66 Sonor Teadrop, an amazing set! Another was a ’67 Teardrop with three toms. A few years later I found a Sonor Action from the 70’s in a commission store in Poznan. A modern Sonor Bop with an 18″ kick joined my collection and the icing on the cake is a wonderful Sonor Vintage in a unique finish California Blue.” – the artist recalls.
Wiktoria also stresses the importance of sound in drum playing: „For me, the most important aspect of development is creating my own unique sound. From the first time I played the Teardrop I knew it was the perfect instrument. The depth of sound, the response to extremely different dynamics, something wonderful. I am delighted to join the SONOR artists next to Marcus Gilmore, Jack De Jonette and Jojo Mayer.”
We are also happy about the new stage in Wiktoria’s career as it is undoubtedly a well-deserved distinction due to her rich music portfolio which is backed by a lot of work and hundreds of concerts played. It is worth mentioning that Maciej Gołyźniak is another Polish artist in the Sonor Drums “stable”.
Wiktoria’s weapon of choice is a California Blue Sonor Vintage kit (what else?). The shell configuration is 22”x14”, 13”x8”, 14”x12”, 16”x14” along with the new 13”x5,75” Benny Greb Signature Brass snare drum.
