In January 2023, Tama presented a very interesting device, which, in our opinion, could help do away with the recurring where’s-my-drum-key problem. How many of us have experienced disappearing drum keys, soiled moon gels or cracked headphones which have been trampled over? Here is a test of the TAT10 Tama Accessory Tray.

1. Test

We tested the tray at our recording studio when testing Tama snare drums and Meinl Pure Alloy cymbals.

2. Basic product specification:

• Internal dimensions: 235 mm (9-1/4″) x 254 mm (10″)
• Drink holder: Up to 90mm (3-1/2″) diameter
• Includes an MC61 FastClamp for connecting stands from 15.9 mm to 28.6 mm in diameter
• Includes two S-shaped hooks for hanging two bags
• Rims can hold up to 16 mm (0.63″) diameter drum sticks
• Mounted 5/8″ nut for a straight mic on the bottom of the tray
• Weight capacity: 2.5 kg

3. Product and functionality

The simplicity of design is outstanding in this product and it is by no means a disadvantage. 3D printer owners will probably copy this product in droves. What we have here is a square piece of plastic padded with anti-slip material. You don’t need anything else to organize your drum equipment. We can put a drum key, dampening gels, ear plugs, a phone, headphones and a drink (non-alcoholic, of course) on top of it. The frames of the stand have profiled edges to hold chopsticks, 4 pairs on each side. You don’t need anything else to make you happy. You can also place a small mixer on this stand, remembering that the total load capacity cannot exceed 2.5 kg. The manufacturer has equipped the stand with a traditional Tama MC61 clamp, which allows for mounting the device directly to a hi-hat or another type of stand. The designers also thought of a threaded mount, which is located at the bottom of the stand and allows it to be screwed onto any 5/8″ diameter microphone stand. The price is not a deterrent considering that over 1/3 of it is the cost of a professional clamp. The product deserves our highest rating!
