Bartek Nazaruk (Kayah & Transoriental Orchestra) talks to BeatIt, Pt. 1

On October 18th 2013, in connection with a live performance by Kayah & Transoriental Orchestra in Poznań, Poland, fragments of which you will also be able to see on BeatIt very soon, we had a very nice chat with the band’s drummer – Bartek Nazaruk.

In the first part of the conversation, as it always is with us, first things come first… First ever contact with drums, first musical inspirations (including the first album that made our guest pay any attention to the drum tracks), the influence of Bartek’s home town on his musical sensitivity, first ever drum kit (as usual – rather beat-up), the influence of Lars Ulrich on a young drummer playing ethnic music, first instrument played in the band run by the “Pogranicze” (“Frontier”) centre in Sejny, Poland, and what saved the poor boy from that instrument, as well as his first ever concert. These are the topics that The Viking interrogated our guest about.
