BeatIt talks to producer and sound engineer Marcin Lampkowski

Marcin Lampkowski is a man of significant experience as a sound engineer. He has collaborated with such renowned names on the Polish pop and rock scene as: Urszula, Justyna Steczkowska, Irena Jarocka, Atrakcyjny Kazimierz, Kobranocka, Manchester or Sofa. The BeatIt team payed the man a visit as he was working on a Monika Brodka concert at the Wytwórnia club in Łódź, Poland.

Because we are of the opinion that a sound engineer’s job is equally important as that of a drummer (yes, we remember that drums are the most important, someone has to make them sound good on the PA system, though), we took the opportunity to have a chat with Marcin about the microphones he uses to amplify Maciek Gołyźniak’s drum kit during his shows with Monika Brodka (the bass drum mic model which slipped Marcin’s mind is Sontronics DM-1B), operating Maciek’s in-ear monitor system, the criteria for creating PA sound, as well as mixing boards used for live shows.
