Over the past two years, online education has become a day-to-day routine, and while it’s a great way to share knowledge and learn, there’s no substitute for face-to-face contact with your teacher. Therefore, on behalf of the organizers, we recommend attending the Open Minded Drum Camp 2022, which will be held from 8 to 12 August in Żywiec, Poland. These are five days of revolutionary percussion workshops with Claudio Spieler, Claus Hessler and Szymon Fortuna. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, Dom Famularo will not be teaching this year.
Goals of the camp:
- Share legitimate information without confusion and unnecessary misconceptions.
- Provide solid guidance and materials to keep you engaged all year long.
- Teach you creating your own efficient and practical practice sessions.
- Decode mysterious corners of rhythm to simplify something that may seem to be out of reach.
- Present 2 inspiring masterclasses about creative drumming with Claus Hessler.
- Present 2 masterclasses that will take you beyond the drum set playing with Claudio Spieler.
- Put some of the knowledge into practice to record a final performance at the end of the camp.
- Give you access to further online studies with our support.
The organizers have planned 36 hours of studies, which are divided into three different types of classes:
- Masterclasses conducted by Claudio Spieler and Claus Hessler
- Drum Labs – in these classes the participants will practice things that have been taught during the masterclasses and beyond
- Rudimental Workshops – these optional classes taught by Szymon Fortuna, a student of Claus Hessler’s, focus on improving the participants’ current skills, including hand and foot technique, time-keeping and controlling your movements
- Drum Ensemble – all participants will work on a drum piece that may include snare, drum, percussion or even verbal parts, and perform it on the last day of the camp. The performance will be filmed on a high quality video.
