SNARE DRUMS

The snare drum is an extremely individual instrument for every drummer. It helps express all kinds of emotions. Session drummers have to (and like to) have extensive collection of snares – from the oldest, early 20th century specimens through classic ones (Ludwig Supraphonic, Ludwig Black Beauty, Slingerland Radio King), all the way to the newest instruments using state-of-the-art technology. There are numerous materials to build snare drum shells from: metal (steel, brass, copper), wood (birch, maple, oak, walnut, ash), exotic woods (bubinga, padouk, wenge), polymers and composites (acrylic, corian). Shell sizes (diameter, depth, thickness) also play an important role. For many drummers, buying snare drums becomes something of a compulsion. Anyone who has been playing drums for more than a few months knows that a single snare drum is not enough. We will try to help our viewers enter this world and show them the history, vintage and modern instruments as well as the wide palette of choices available in the market.
