For over 20 years, Roland V-Drums have enjoyed a well-earned rep of the leader in electronic drums and sound modules.
The latest model, which Roland are introducing just now, is the TD-07KV. Placed in the price range between the TD-1DMK and TD-17KV, it is meant to provide a player with the expression, playability and certain (not all, of course) solutions characteristic of high-end V-Drums kits at an affordable price.
All the drum pads feature Roland’s legendary double-ply, tension-adjustable mesh drumheads (8″ snare, 6″ toms). According to the producer, they are much quieter than other e-kits. The kick pad makes it fully possible to play with a double pedal, and is also very quiet. The rack is based on four posts (not three), which is to secure extra stability and adjustment to all heights.
The heart of the kit is the TD-07 sound module, which is described by Roland as ‘powerful, capable, and speedy‘. It boasts 25 preset drum kits, 143 instrument sounds, as well as storage room for 25 user drum kits.
The effects include EQ, overhead mic simulation, ambience and 30 multi-effects while the coach functions are: Time Check (Easy), Time Check (Hard), Quiet Count, Auto Up/Down and Change-up. The metronome features tempos ranging from 20 to 260 bpm as well as 15 sound types.
Thanks to built-in Bluetooth, tracks can be called up on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Video sound is transmitted too, perfect for playing along with online songs and lesson content. Stereo sound can be brought in with a cable. MIDI transmission over Bluetooth is also supported, allowing the recording of MIDI data in music apps cable-free.
