Vincent “Vinnie Paul” Abbott (1964-2018) was an award-winning drummer born in Abilene, Texas, USA, to country songwriter and producer Jerry Bob Abbott and Norma Carolyn Adkisson.

In 1981, Vinnie Paul founded Pantera in Arlington, Texas, with his guitarist brother Darrell “Diamond” Lance Abbott (later known as “Dimebag”). The band is regarded as one of the most successful and influential groups in metal history, having sold around 20 million records worldwide and having received four Grammy nominations.

After the group split up, the drummer continued his career with Damageplan – a band which dissolved following the tragic death of Dimebag Darrell, who was the guitarist.

Vinnie’s last musical project was the heavy metal band Hellyeah, which he made six albums with and was a member of until his passing.
