The “Black Album“, Metallica’s fifth full-length effort released on August 12, 1991, turned out to be a spectacular commercial and artistic success. Since its premiere, this release has been certified 16 times platinum and sold over 16 million copies in the United States alone. For many fans around the world, the centerpiece of the album was the exceptionally powerful, bold and groundbreaking sound of the drums. The “heart” of this sound was certainly Lars’ snare drum, which helped to give the songs weight and momentum.

In tribute to this unique and distinctive sound, and commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black Album, Tama presents a limited edition of the signature Lars Ulrich snare drum. This instrument is completely covered in matte black and is made of a 3mm steel shell. The snare drum also has a specially designed badge with the image of Lars from the period of the release of this breakthrough album. In addition, the snare drum comes with a Remo Black Suede Ambassador head with the Metallica logo and Lars’ signature. Lars Ulrich himself has this to say: “Can you believe it’s been thirty years since the Black Album? It’s crazy, isn’t it? Combination of the right songs, the right producer, the right studio, the right attitude from the four guys in the band. Obviously, aligned with the right energy of the universe AND the right snare drum and the right support from my friends at Tama. What I love about the snare sound is the volume, the crack, the snap, the weight, the size and all those crazy, cool additives. […] Trust me. There’s no question this is the best snare drum for playing loud, heavy music […].”
