Sabian introduce a new B8X effect cymbal

All cymbal companies big and small relentlessly put their money and efforts into developing new products and thus expanding their offers, gaining new market segments or even creating new ones. One could say there is a new cymbal, cymbal series or family being launched or just about to be launched each week by manufacturer so-and-so. Only yesterday, did we inform about cymbals currently being introduced on the market by such moguls as Zildjian and Meinl and today it is time for their great rival from Canada.

Like their competitors, SABIAN have also been observing the general trend in the drumming market, which is based on treating low end products just as seriously as the flag ships by implementing technologies taken from the higher segments of one’s own product range, minding their quality and appearance, as well as constantly expanding the catalogue. That’s exactly what is happening with the B8X, which is a budget series in the Canadian company’s offer.

The Sabian B8X family has just been expanded with the Ballistic model – 16″ and 18″ crashes, to be exact. Those are effect cymbals manufactured with the use of a new hammering technology and an extra-large hammer peen. The hammering process starts from the bottom of the cymbal up, which is supposed to make it more flexible and easier to open up. According to the manufacturer, the sound it produces can be compared with the HHX X-Treme Crash.

The new Sabian B8X Crash

Here is how the 16″ and 18″ Sabian B8X Ballistic crashes are characterised by their maker: “Utilizing an innovative new hammer peen and hammering technique, the B8X Ballistic Crash is a thin model that delivers funky, aggressive attack, fully capable of creating high-pitched mayhem while remaining musical. SABIAN is committed to creating the widest, most innovative range of sounds on the planet, giving drummers more choice in creating their sound. Available in 16” and 18”, the B8X Ballistic Crash is the latest cymbal to deliver on that promise.

SABIAN describe the cymbals ar focused and bright. As the name suggests, they are made from the B8 alloy.
