Sabian have released a new cymbal in co-operation with the great Billy Cobham.

According to the manufacturer, the 23” HH Billy Cobham Spectral Ride is a medium-heavy ride featuring a low profile, clear stick definition, and a beautiful spread and wash that does not overtake the cymbal. With a fully lathed, top and bottom, this instrument features a large, loud, and present bell, which when struck, harkens back to Cobham’s signature sound, which can be heard across albums like his landmark 1973 release, ‘Spectrum‘.
The Spectral Ride is equally at home in jazz, fusion, funk, and progressive music as it is in rock, metal, and standard pop music applications. The cymbal references Cobham’s affinity for both the 22” HH Medium Ride and 22” HH Rock Ride. Using those models as a foundation, SABIAN’s Research and Development team amplified a set of prototypes to fit the new 23” design, adding more presence, stick attack and controlled spread, while working closely with Cobham on crafting an instrument without limitations
With only 250 manufactured, each 23” HH Billy Cobham Spectral Ride is numbered and comes with a personally signed certificate of authenticity.
