We have informed of Jamie Muir’s passing only two days ago. As it turns out, the UK has lost another significant drummer on the same day as Rick Buckler of The Jam passed away on the 17th of February as well.

Buckler was a founding member of The Jam, having played in the band’s classic line-up, which also included lead singer and guitarist Paul Weller as well as bassist Bruce Foxton. The drummer features on their 18 consecutive UK top 40 singles (including four number one hits), six studio albums, all released between 1977 and 1982, and a live album released in 1983.
Rick Buckler died aged 69 after a short illness.

L-R: P. Weller, R. Buckler, B. Foxton
The surviving members of The Jam took to their social media.
Paul Weller’s statement reads:
“I’m shocked and saddened by Rick’s passing. I’m thinking back to us all rehearsing in my bedroom in Stanley Road, Woking. To all the pubs and clubs we played at as kids, to eventually making a record. What a journey! We went far beyond our dreams and what we made stands the test of time. My deepest sympathy to all family and friends – P.W x“
Bruce Foxton wrote:
“I was shocked and devastated to hear the very sad news today. Rick was a good guy and a great drummer whose innovative drum patterns helped shape our songs. I’m glad we had the chance to work together as much as we did. My thoughts are with Leslie and his family at this very difficult time.“
