BeatIt presents: Roland TD-4KP electronic drum kit

Very recently, Roland Polska have sent us a very interesting package containing an electronic drum kit, bearing the symbol TD-4KP. The BeatIt team took a few days and spent them fiddling with that piece of equipment, checking all the functions hidden behind the buttons, dials, knobs and sockets, which EACH of the kit’s panels is equipped with. By doing so, we have created a video tutorial illustrating ALL the options available onboard.

Time spent on working out the possibilities offered by the Roland TD-4KP kit allowed us to notice a few disadvantages, which include: no MIDI IN socket, no hi-hat adjustment above rack tom line and no standard twin pedal option (an extra pad must be purchased). The trick is not to let all these overshadow the advantages, which certainly outweigh the downsides. In this context, we have to mention light and fully portable construction, small and convenient size, quiet pads, as well as, most importantly, excellent price-function ratio (large number of options, functions and sounds). We can safely say that Roland TD-4KP is a piece of equipment worth getting acquainted with, which doesn’t only apply to amateur musicians. Even pros could make a good use of it (e.g in the studio), without having to spend more than four thousand dollars on a high-end set. After all, the recent recession in the marketplace has affected everybody…
