Ex-Megadeth drummer passed away during a show
Nick Menza, drummer well known for his work with Megadeth‘s “classic line-up”, in which he played between 1989 and 1998, fainted during a show with his band OHM, which took place yesterday at the Baked Potato club in Los Angeles. Minutes after that he was brought to the ambulance, unfortunately he died on the way to the hospital. The direct cause of death was a heart attack.
Menza played on Megadeth’s most appreciated albums, which became very important for all the metal fans. He recorded drums for such masterpieces as Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction or Youthanasia. His drum kit during Megadeth years was very characteristic, thanks to Greg Voelker Rack System, which made his set look even more collosal. We will always remeber his great parts, for example in the song “Holy Wars”:
Dave Mustaine was one of the first people, who reacted to Nick’s passing. He posted an emotional tweet:
“TELL ME THIS ISN’T TRUE! I woke at 4 AM to hear Nick Menza passed away on 5/21 playing his drums w/Ohm at the Baked Potato. #nickmenzarip”
Rest in Peace mr. Menza!
