Mel Gaynor – former Simple Minds drummer and session musician – has recently joined the Istanbul Mehmet artist roster.
A statement posted on the Turkish cymbal manufacturer’s social media reads:

Mel Gaynor is one of Britain’s most distinguished and respected drummers. He started out in the late 1970s and early 1980s in the band Samson, whose vocalist at the time was Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden). In 35 years, he sold more than 60 million records with the legendary Scottish band Simple Minds. He also had an illustrious career as a session musician with such artists as Brian May, Gary Moore, Elton John, Lou Reed, Tina Turner, Meat Loaf, The Pretenders, Jackson Browne, Little Steven, Robert Palmer, Joan Armatrading, Incognito, Imagination, and Light of the World, among others.
