Matt Garstka and DW Drums have officially announced their co-operation.
The statement on the company’s official FB fanpage reads:
“DW Drums is incredibly excited to announce the latest DW endorser: Matt Garstka. Matt has recorded and toured with the ground-breaking band Animals As Leaders for over ten years. He has instilled the band’s experimental music with grooves full of audacious phrases and fills pushing the percussive envelope to new heights.”
Matt himself said:
“[this kit] is nasty! That thing is sick! It makes total sense ’cause I’m a total fan of natural finishes. Every kit that I’ve ever had, except my first one which I didn’t really have a chance in, they’ve all been natural woods. I love natural woods, it’s a thing for me. I don’t like sparkle finishes, I like the beauty of Mother Nature. God, is this beautiful! This is Royal Ebony. […] That’s one reason. Another huge reason for me is sound. I’ve been going into the studios […] and – no EQ – kick drums, snare drums, toms – DW drums always win in the shootout. It’s ridiculous but that’s just the way it is. They’re ready to be recorded and sound sick as hell. That’s why I’m here. That and the hardware [which is] the most sturdy in the game, for sure.”
