Jonathan “Sugarfoot” Moffett is a renowned American drummer, who has made a name for himself as a pop, funk and R&B player, although he is no stranger to rock or jazz either. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry, which include the likes of Madonna, Janet Jackson, Elton John, George Michael, Quincy Jones, Prince, The Jacksons, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson (who the drummer worked with for over 30 years).

The nickname “Sugarfoot” stems from his incredibly fast-paced foot pedal technique on the bass drum, which allows him to play 32nd-note and even 64th-note figures with precision and fluidity.

Now, Jonathan needs help from anybody who appreciates his art and drumming skills. Very recently, he was rushed to hospital due to chronic continuing pain in his chest area that progressively got worse. The doctors diagnosed the early stages of a massive heart attack. Eventually, the musician underwent an emergency triple bypass operation, which saved his life.

Considering the enormous costs of the surgery and rehabilitation, representatives for Jonathan Moffett, Cary Wayne and Kari Zalik, have decided to ask his fellow drummers (but also other people) for financial help. To that end, a GoFundMe campaign has been set.

The representatives’ statement reads:

“Our goal is to raise enough to cover a portion of the costs that are required from this unexpected medical emergency as well as everyday expenses during this medical downtime.

Fortunately, we have been told by his doctors that he WILL make a FULL RECOVERY and will be BETTER THAN EVER. He WILL be back to entertain and bring you all more exciting videos, original music, clinics and a solo tour he has been prepping for some time now.

In the meantime, we kindly ask his supporters to reach out and help in any amount possible. Even a small contribution will have a serious impact.

All your love and support will and will be greatly and humbly appreciated by Jonathan Moffett, his family, and team!

God bless you all and we thank you for reading!

Humbly and graciously,
Cary Wayne & Kari Zalik
(Representatives for Jonathan Moffett)”.
