Alice In Chains‘ co-founder, guitarist, main writer and second singer, Jerry Cantrell, has just announced the forthcoming release of his new solo effort.

The album, titled “I Want Blood“, is set for release on the 18th of October 2024 through Double J Music. Here is how the artist describes it:
“This record is a serious piece of work. It’s a motherfucker. It’s hard, no doubt, and completely unlike ‘Brighten’ [Cantrell’s previous album, released in 20212]. And that’s what you want, to end up in a different place. There’s a confidence to this album. I think it’s some of my best songwriting and playing, and certainly some of my best singing.”

The record features numerous musical guests, including bassists Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, but we are especially interested in the drummers. Those are Gil Sharone and Mike Bordin.

Mike Bordin is the drummer for the band Faith No More, but has worked with artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Korn, and Primus. He went to high school with Cliff Burton (Metallica’s bassist, tragically killed in an accident in 1986), whom he then befriended. He is endorsed by the following brands: Yamaha, Zildjian, Vic Firth, Remo.

Gil Sharone is one of the most outstanding drummers of his generation. He is a session drummer, educator and author. He has worked with artists such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Puscifer, Marilyn Manson, Stolen Babies, Team Sleep, Jerry Cantrell (previous album), Eek-A-Mouse, HR (of Bad Brains), Dave Wakeling (of The English Beat), Slightly Stoopid, Morgan Heritage, Long Dub All Stars, Anti Quant, Saudade (jazz fusion collaborations with jazz greats such as John Medeski). He is also no stranger to the world of film scoring. His playing can be heard on the soundtracks to such movies and series as: “Deadpool 2,” “Guardians of The Galaxy 2,” all the John Wick films, “The Punisher” (Netflix), “Kingdom and Stumptown,”, “Agent Elvis.” He is also the author of the instructional DVD and book “Wicked Beats- Reggae, Rocksteady & SKA” (Hudson Music). He is endorsed by such brands as Zildjian, DW, Remo, Vater.
