Last weekend saw an unexpected musical collaboration when the band Godsmack suddenly found itself without a drummer – right in the middle of a U.S. tour. Wade Murff left the band after a dozen or so shows to step in at the last minute for Black Veil Brides drummer Christian CC Coma, who is dealing with undisclosed personal issues.
In this situation, Sully Erna and co. had to find a replacement literally overnight, and they found one in none other than Mike Mangini! As if that weren’t enough, Mike played a show at the Morton Amphitheater in Riverside, Missouri, without any rehearsal. The band is continuing its tour (featuring Stone Temple Pilots and Dorothy) with Maestro Mangini behind the drum kit.

“Taking this all in today with show 1 done. And just like that, I finally get to play these dream venues in the USA with my Boston brothers in Godsmack. I need to thank a lot of people for putting this together so quickly. I can’t even express how grateful I am to Sully [Erna], Robbie [Merrill], Sam [Koltun] and the entire organization for trusting me with no rehearsal. My gear companies performed nothing short of a miracle and my family, friends & fans never stopped praying for and supporting me. Thank you.“
