> > > Chad Smith takes ALS Pepper Challenge

Chad Smith is simply a great guy! He knows how to hit the tubes, which he does great in the mighty Red Hot Chili Peppers. He knows how to be funny when he accepted the challenge from Will Ferrell and they had a duel during a TV Show. He knows how to interact with other while busking in the streets of London. And finally he knows how to support people when he jumped behind the kit to jam with a basketball team band. Now he has accepted quite unique challenge to support the right thing.

It’s all about the ALS Pepper Challenge. Remember ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? The idea is the same – to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a rare progressive neurological disease that spurs involuntary muscle movement better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Former NFL player Steve Gleason, who suffers from ALS, challenged Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to down a hot pepper.

Chad accepted it and he ate a hot pepper right from the produce isle in the mall. He recorded the video and posted it on Twitter. Before eating the pepper he added that he said: “The ironic thing is I don’t like chili peppers — I’m not a fan of the hot pepper.”. After that he called out Will Ferrel and guitarist Mike McCready to do the same. Seconds later he was literally burning and coughing from the heat of tiny pepper.

We appreciate Chad’s deed, but if you want to do something really good, go and support a local charity foundation with some money, material help or volunteering. Eating something awkward and pouring water on yourself won’t help in some difficult cases. That’s all. Watch the video below.
