On the 10th of December 2017, the Grand Hall of the Zamek Civic Center in Poznań, Poland hosted Krzysztof Zalewski and band, who played a sold out show giving an energetic performance in front of about 1,000 fans. Currently, the man on the drum stool in Krzysztof Zalewski’s band is Bolek Wilczek.
Our today’s drum cam hero is no novice. He is known from his collaborations with such acts as Moonlight (gothic rock/metal), OCN (post grunge), and Jamal (reggae/dance hall). One can easily hear the man knows what the drums are for. Just listen to the nicely written and executed verse involving a rack tom hoop, the snare, the hi hat and the foor tom in the song “Polsko“, which is known from a single. The straight groove in the chorus was played flawlessly, giving all the instrumentalists a firm base for their performances and the audience for singing along with the front man and jumping to the beat, which the fans willingly did. Also, the tom and snare part in the middle section of the tune can be described as simple but effective and played for the song, which is the most important role for any instrumentalist, especially a drummer.
Bolek Wilczek used the following equipment during his performance:
- 13″ Istanbul Agop Turk Hats
- 19″ Anatolian Ultimate Crash
- 20″ Anatolian Ultimate Crash
- 22″ Anatolian Kappadokia Ride
- 70s Gretsch kit: 22″, 13″, 16″
- 14″x8″ Sonor Horst Link Signature snare
- Heads: Remo Emperor Clear (kick drum), Remo Emperor Coated (toms), Remo Ambassador Coated (snare)
- Gładek 150 B sticks
- Roland SPD-SX sampling pad
