As all Van Halen fans know, after the passing of his brother Eddie, drummer Alex Van Halen withdrew from public life and, above all, from performing on stage. The artist plans to publish his autobiography this fall, and in the coming days there will be an auction of drum gear belonging to the former Van Halen sticksman.
The collection features over 350 lots, with a wide array of memorabilia, such as drum kits (including the legendary “5150” tour kit and the last tour kit ever used by Alex in concert), snare drums, road cases, drumheads, cymbals, gongs, sticks & mallets, personal items, record awards, and autographed pieces. Each lot sold will come with a personally signed COA from Alex, who said this about the auction:
“I always have pursued the best possible sound, which drove me every single day, every single album, and every single tour to be on top of my game. I hope that passing on all these pieces will inspire current and next generations to be the best they can be. Now, let’s have some fun — Van Halen style! I kept all these drums, cymbals, heads, and all other kinds of gear, instruments, and road cases in my warehouse for decades and it will bring me great pleasure to see them end up in the hands of my fans and fellow drummers.”
The auction will run from June 1 to 9, and will be carried out by Backstage Auctions. For more detailed info, go to: https://www.backstageauctions.com/catalog/auction.php
