Al Foster, Miles Davis’ drummer between 1972 and 1985, has passed away.

The day before yesterday, his daughter Kierra Denise Foster wrote on her social media: “My dad, Al foster transitioned yesterday.”
Apart from playing with Miles Davis, Foster performed live and/or recorded with the likes of: Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner, Stan Getz, Bobby Hutcherson, Dexter Gordon, Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Thelonious Monk, Stanley Clarke, Mike Stern, Johnem Scofield, or Bobby McFerrin. He was also a pianist, songwriter, and the leader of his own quartet.
He was endorsed by Yamaha Drums and Zildjian.
