Here is the second part of a very interesting interview with Thomas Lang, filmed by BeatIt during the Polish edition of Thomas Lang’s Drumming Boot Camp, which was held in Warsaw, Poland. This time, we talk to our guest about his first ever performance with a group of people, earliest bands started at a very young age, first gigs played out of his town, and also his first ever recording session and how it came about. We also discuss the gear the man was using at the time, what influenced his choice of instrument in those days, his career development as a session musician, and follow the endorsement deals this outstanding drummer has made with drum producers over the years.

Another matter discussed by the man of the hour is technical differences between recording onto tape and digital sessions as well as the influence of digital technology on musicians’ attitude to working in the studio. Finally, our guest explains his philosophy of working as a hired gun in his home studio, and talks about his own performances and drum parts which make him especially proud and best reflect his style.
