Gavin Harrison is currently one of the most recognizable drummers in the industry. He has made a name for himself both as a great session musician and as a member of Porcupine Tree and King Crimson – bands that have become staples in the world of prog rock. Recently, he has been successfully recording and touring with The Pineapple Thief, but at the same time he has not been neglecting his solo career, releasing albums under his own name.
The artist has teamed up with Canadian bassist Antoine Fafard for the second time. The duo will release its second album, titled “Perpetual Mutations”, on July 26.
Apart from the leaders, the album features soprano saxophonist Jean-Pierre Zanella, cellists Joasia Cieślak and Isodora Filipovic, violinist Ally Storch and Dale Devoe on brass instruments.
Harrison and Fafard say: “As it was in the first effort, all the music on this album is entirely performed and excludes any programmed instruments. The joint instrumental musical effort was put together with the clear intention of not repeating the exact same sonic textures featured in the first album and keep looking for different and original musical possibilities. For instance, ‘Perpetual Mutations’ introduces classical guitar and piano, instruments absent in the 2020 album.”
Gavin Harrison is endorsed by the following brands: Zildjian, Sonor, Remo, Vic Firth, Gibraltar, Hardcase, AKG, and is laso known to use Tama Speedcobra pedals.
