On November 17, 2022, Agnieszka Chylińska (probably the most popular female rock singer in Poland in the last three decades) and her band visited the Earth Hall in Poznań, Poland. It also meant a visit from Oskar Podolski, who has been the drummer with the star’s band for some time. We didn’t miss this opportunity to make a few drum cams and talk to Oskar about the most important thing in life, i.e. the drums… 😉
Today, let’s take a look and listen at Oskar performing the second single from Agnieszka Chylińska’s latest album (already certified gold) released in October of last year, titled “Never Ending Sorry“. The song is “Kiedyś do ciebie wrócę” (“Some Day I’ll Come Back to You“). Agnieszka is the author of the lyrics, and the music was written by: Agnieszka Chylińska, and Rafał Stępień.
The live band during the performance features: Agnieszka Chylińska (vocals), Rafał Stępień (keyboards), Błażej Chochorowski (bass guitar), Maciej Mąka (guitar) and Oskar Podolski (drums).
“I’m in love with Gretsch. It’s the Gretsch Renown series on this tour. I’m unable to go down below 24” bass drums, so it’s 24”x14”. The floor tom is 16”x16”, 13”x9” rack tom, and the snare (which I’ve been using for 10 lat) a 1974 Ludwig Supraphonic 14” by… I don’t wanna slip here, but I’ll say 5”.
The cymbal on the right is a 20” HHX Complex Thin Crash. Made for bashing. This is a 23” HHX Complex Medium Ride. Unusual diameter. Obviously, it’s good for bashing, but it also did very well in the studio. All these cymbals feature on the last album. On the left, there’s an HHX X-Treme Crash. I’ve been using it for quite some time. It explodes really nicely and it sounds good on the PA. It’s also very flexible. Last but not least, 15” HHX Groove hats. Before, I had a pair of 16” Sabian AA Apollo hats, which is very dark, and I was using this HHX in the practice room. However, I like the sound of the HHX and I wanted to apply it live. It’s much louder than the Apollo and I had to promise my band mates that I wouldn’t play it loudly. I just push it forward in my personal monitor mix.”
