Meinl have just announced the release of yet another addition to their range of practice pads.
The Split Tone Pad, which was designed by and developed in
collaboration with Anika Nilles, consists of three distinct surfaces that offer different feels and volume levels, along with a reduced rebound section on the back. It is thus designed to practice more than just a simple rudiment. According to the creators, with the Split Tone Pad, “a drummer can creatively mold his or her own systematic approach to advancing consistency, accuracy in unisons, hand independence and muscle strength. The power of this pad is supposed to be in its ability to train your ears and mind for a better understanding of rhythms.”
Included in the set are a few hand exercises written by Anika Nilles that demonstrate how the pad’s different surfaces transform the way a player hears his or her notes to dive deeper into analyzing control.
Features:
- Primary pad (middle): Regular tone
- Secondary pad (red dots): Higher tone
- Soft oval shape and backside: Muted tone
- Durable surface – realistic feel
- Size: 12″
