Kickstarter is a generally known method of raising funds for the development of your projects and ideas. This time a gentleman named Gabriel Martinez started collecting money for the development of his idea. Gabriel wants to create his drums from the ground up, but to achieve this he will have to work for many years. To begin with, he created drum hoops for 14″ 10 lug snare.
We know that the stage of work on prototypes has been completed, and several fully functional samples have been thoroughly tested on different drums to ensure proper fit and sound. Documentation of all tests is available on percussionordnance.com. Hoop is made of aluminum, finished with an eye-catching anodized color that has a laser-made company logo and a serial number. Proprietary rim shot flange provides more contact area resulting in an enhanced rim shot sound. The design dampens unwanted overtones and resonances.

In addition to the rim, Gabriel Martinez designed a steel drum key with a rather unconventional look. Key has many holes to improve the grip and allow the key to be attached to “anything”.
