Meinl release a new cymbal line
The world-famous and highly popular German cymbal maker is certainly not resting on its laurels. It’s clear to see that MEINL’s R&D Department is pushing forward at full steam, just like NASA laboratories. New cymbals appear in the company’s product range on a regular basis, be it Byzance Extra Dry, Byzance Dual, Byzance Brilliant or Byzance Dark. In addition to that, those who love the Meinl sound have recently received a number of Artist Concept models built in collaboration with some of the greatest Meinl endorsers: 18″/18″ Anika Nilles Deep Hats, 12″/16″ Luke Holland Bullet Stack , 18″/16″ Matt Garstka Fat Stack and 18″/18″ Thomas Lang Super-Stack. As if that weren’t enough, the Byzance Brilliant line has been enriched by some new models: the 18″ and 20″ Heavy Hammered China and the 22″ Heavy Hammered Ride.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the company based in Gutenstetten, Germany, is launching a new cymbal line this year. This time around, it is the MEINL Pure Alloy series. Those are instruments with a fully lathed playing surface, which gives them a sweet, lingering sustain and a soft, traditional tone, the execution of which does not require hitting very hard.
The manufacturer describes this cymbal family as “Clear-sounding and effortless to play virtually in every style of music.
Their sophisticated nature, based on a full tonal range, has two sides – the definition of fully lathed surfaces meets a subtle wash. Sparkling, satin colours respond to every impact, interacting with the player at every level of dynamics.”
You can also choke those cymbals easily. MEINL Pure Alloy is also excellent stick definition, which results in a balanced stick-to-wash ratio”.
The MEINL Pure Alloy series consists of the following models:
Pure Alloy 16″ Medium Crash (PA16MC)
Pure Alloy 18″ Medium Crash (PA18MC)
Pure Alloy 20″ Medium Crash (PA20MC)
Pure Alloy 20″ Medium Ride (PA20MR)
Pure Alloy 22″ Medium Ride (PA22MR)
Pure Alloy 14″ Medium Hi-Hat (PA14MH)
Pure Alloy 15″ Medium Hi-Hat (PA15MH)
