John Blackwell is an excellent drummer with serious accomplishments. His C.V. includes working with Prince, Patti LaBelle, Cameo and his own John Blackwell Project. He is also a graduate and teacher at Berklee College of Music and an author of two instructional DVD’s: “John Blackwell – Technique, Grooving and Showmanship” and “John Blackwell”.
Yesterday, John published a post on his social media informing of being tested for possible tumors in his brain:
“While in Japan (…), I lost function of my left arm and leg. I was taken to the hospital for test, then diagnosed with two brain tumors. Just want everyone to know I’m gonna beat this. After all I’ve been through and all these past couple of years, there is no way I’m gonna quit or give up. (…) Pray for me. I love you all. I ain’t done yet!!! I will return.”
John, we wish you all the strength you need to recover as soon as possible!
