Swiss cymbal maker presents brand new products!

NAMM show is about to begin, and as we promised earlier, we will show you what’s new Paiste got to offer. We will begin with Signature series, which is very interesting this year. Some big names, some great cymbals. Here we go:

Signature 22″ Dry Heavy Ride “Monad”

We did a quick reviev of this cymbal earlier, but it’s still worth mentioning. Made in collaboration with Tool‘s Danny Carey, based on great Signature Dry Heavy Ride , it’s a  heavy cymbal capable of strong and cutting ride playing at elevated volume levels. It features a pronounced, articulate ping over a controlled, dark, deep and complex wash. It’s bell is very strong and cuts through perfectly. Monad is covered in purple, and features three methaphisycal symbols, put on it by Danny’s request and choice.

Signature 20″ Duo Ride “Vir2osity”

Now something from the one and only Carl Palmer from ELP and many more. It’s based on Signature Dark Dry Ride. This heavy, unique cymbal features a fairly raw, earthy, complex wash that’s very tight and controlled. The overall glassy stick sound tends towards a drier, more raw and wooden note in the un-lathed zone, while the lathed zone presents a livelier, crisper and richer ping. Bell is good separated from the rest, very piercing. This product will be perfect for energetic music genres, which requires a lot of diversity from the cymbal.

Masters 20″ Mellow Ride “Blue Bird”

This one was made with a well known french jazz-master, Andre “Dede” Ceccarelli. After ove 50 years on stage, he came to some conclusions about his ride. With a little help from Paiste they came up with a medium light cymbal with a distinctly sweet character and a fine, buttery feel. It features a silvery ping over a warm, mellow wash. Akin to Dédé, it easily transcends Jazz and finds broad musical application wherever refined articulation and cultured style are required.

2002 24″ Swish Ride “Signature Groove”

This is the effect of Paiste and John JR Robinson‘s work. It’s a unique 24″ cymbal, called Swish Ride. Robinson is well known for his work with Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson, he created his own big sound, and he needs it from his equipment. That’s why this cymbal features immense sound capacity and an extensive range of dynamics, being fully controllable at various volume levels. It features an earthy ping over an exotic and energetic wash and is capable of swelling, trash infused crashes for dramatic accents. Sounds perfect for good groove parts, doesn’t it?
